We’re looking for a 3D Character Artist to join us and bring to life the cast of our upcoming co-op ARPG for the Nintendo Switch. This project is inspired by the retro-futuristic charm of science-fantasy illustrations and animations from the late 20th century, blending nostalgic aesthetics with modern gameplay.

Your Responsibilities:

• Create high-quality 3D character models (organic and hard surface) inspired by science-fantasy art styles from the late 70s to mid-80s.
• Design modular character assets to enable customisation and flexibility.
• Ensure character models meet handheld consoles technical requirements, balancing poly counts, texture memory, and gameplay performance.
• Collaborate with environment and animation teams to ensure seamless integration into the game world.
• Manage outsourced character assets, providing feedback and handling integration as needed.
• Support team growth by sharing feedback and knowledge, elevating the quality of character art across the project.

Your Profile:

• 5+ years of experience in game art, with at least 3+ years focused on character creation.
• Expertise in stylised, retro-inspired art styles focusing on imaginative, non-photorealistic design.
• Proficiency in industry-standard tools: Maya/Blender, Photoshop, ZBrush, Substance Designer/Painter.
• Familiarity with Unreal Engine and performance optimization for the Nintendo Switch.
• Experience preparing characters for animation, including rigging.
• Problem-solving skills to address technical challenges related to character integration.
• Shipped at least one console title with knowledge of full production pipelines.
• Strong communication skills and a team-first, collaborative attitude.
• Passion for ARPGs and retro-inspired aesthetics, with an appreciation for the timelessness of science-fantasy visuals.

Bonus Skills:

• Experience with PBR workflows and crafting shaders to capture the retro-fantasy vibe.
• Understanding of animation states and controller tuning for polished character movements.
