Relic is an award-winning developer of genre-defining strategy games including Dawn of War, Company of Heroes, and Age of Empires IV. Newly independent, we are positioned to better serve our players, experiment with exciting new game ideas, and continue delivering the rich interactive experiences players have come to expect from us over the last 25 years.

We’re looking for a highly adaptable and imaginative Senior Concept Artist to support Business Development and eventual

game production. This role is ideal for an artist who thrives in fast-paced environments, who can create high quality visuals and pivot between styles and genres. Our ideal candidate is an expert in their craft, comfortable using both 2D and 3D tools to deliver compelling visuals that bring our ideas to life. You’ll work closely with directors and key disciplines to help shape the visual identity of our future projects and communicate our creative vision to internal teams and external partners.

As a Senior Concept Artist, you will…

  • Create high-quality concept art and key visuals from verbal and written briefs to support pitch decks, proposals, and presentations
  • Collaborate with the Art Director and development teams to maintain a consistent visual vision from early sketches to polished key art and production concepts
  • Deliver polished, presentation-ready artwork across a variety of genres and styles—original IPs and licensed properties alike
  • Partner with Designers and Artists to ensure visual storytelling aligns with gameplay, technical constraints, and player experience (e.g., RTS camera angles, unit readability)

You’re a good fit if you have…

  • 5+ years of experience in concept art, visual development, or pitch art creation
  • Shipped at least one game with active participation in the preproduction phase of a AAA game
  • Strong portfolio showcasing fast, high-quality visual ideation and polished presentation art that conveys an understanding of visual design composition and storytelling through imagery
  • Ability to translate narrative and gameplay goals into visually engaging designs
  • Comfort iterating quickly based on feedback while maintaining artistic integrity
  • Solid understanding of design fundamentals: character design and posing, hard and organic visual design, composition, lighting, anatomy, perspective and cinematic color theory
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including marketing, brand, business development and production
  • Proficiency in Photoshop and 3D tools such as 3DSMax, Maya, Blender, ZBrush, or SketchUp
  • Clear and inclusive communication skills, with a collaborative mindset

It’s a bonus if you have…

  • Experience developing for the RTS genre
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine, Blender, Marmoset or Unity for quick scene setup or rendering
  • Experience working with licensing, publishing, or external partners
  • Background in both stylized and realistic IP development
  • A passion for games, or an interest in learning about what we do!

Portfolio Requirements

  • Please submit a link to your portfolio – no hard copies
  • Include a wide range of examples such as rough sketches and rendering styles, genres, Hard and Organic surfaces, environments, characters, vehicles, props, VFX, etc…
  • Provide at least one example that demonstrates your process, including research, thumbnails and colour studies
