About the Job

CatFace is seeking a talented and detail-driven Storyboard Artist to join our growing Animation Department. In this role, you’ll help shape our stories from the earliest visual stages, translating scripts into dynamic, cinematic storyboards and timed animatics that set the tone for the final animation.

We’re looking for someone who thrives in a collaborative, fast-moving environment, adapts easily to feedback, and takes pride in visual storytelling that connects with audiences. A passion for gaming culture, especially Minecraft-related content, is a plus.

This is a temporary 5-month role with the possibility of conversion to a full-time, permanent position based on performance and business needs. Open to fully remote or hybrid candidates based in the Austin, TX area. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Please attach a resume highlighting your experiences and a link to your online portfolio, showcasing skills pertinent to this position.

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate closely with the Director, Writers, and Animation team to break down scripts and identify visual storytelling opportunities.
  • Create clear and expressive storyboards—from thumbnail sketches to polished panels—for key sequences.
  • Assemble boards into timed animatics, incorporating pacing, basic motion, and visual flow.
  • Implement creative feedback to refine storyboards and animatics while maintaining consistency with the project’s visual style.
  • Apply principles of cinematography, composition, and staging to maximize storytelling impact.
  • Manage time effectively to meet production deadlines while balancing complexity and quality.

What We’re Looking For

  • 2+ years of professional or equivalent experience creating storyboards for animated productions.
  • Strong drawing skills with an eye for cinematic framing, character acting, and visual clarity.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Toon Boom Storyboard Pro (or Toon Boom Harmony with storyboarding workflow experience).
  • Solid understanding of visual storytelling, pacing, and shot composition.
  • Experience building animatics that convey timing, action, and mood.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to incorporate feedback efficiently.
  • Creative problem-solver who can work well in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Bonus: Familiarity with Minecraft’s visual style and adapting it for cinematic storytelling.
